Gorgeous 'Trails In The Sky' Remake Gets September Release Date

I really hope that there will be a Switch 2 version, or at the very least that the Switch version takes advantage of the Switch 2 (higher fps/res)

I’m not usually that guy, but I hope this gets a Switch 2 release. I don’t know why it wouldn’t, but I do think it’s a niche franchise that would sell units if that was the case. Regardless, I’ll be playing it day one — maybe on the OG Switch, or the PS5. Trails fans are eating good right now.

I don't neeeeeddd ittttt. One it's another JRPG that I just don't have time for (finishing up Baten Kaitos Origins, and then heading into Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and then Xenoblade Chronicles X), and then I also couldn't get into the game when I played it on PSP - basically couldn't wait to finish the game

But it looks so pretty and I was always itching to try the game again.

Except the black notebook quest - I missed the one that's only available for about 2 screens during a -very- intense part of the story and I got so mad about it I restarted the entire game

Not even close to a reasonable price for that collector's edition. Basically $250 for your standard art/map stuff, keychains/pins, standee, & bag. No artbook to speak of just some cards smh.

If they could just make the whole series available, also cold steel 1 and 2 are sorely missed

@mariomaster96 Yup. If this doesn't take advantage of the Switch 2 hardware, I'll be getting this on Steam. But I'd prefer a physical.

@mariomaster96 normally I'd agree but as a collector I almost don't even care if it gets a Switch 2 release since it will more than likely be a key card. Lmao

I’ve been worried about the translation. The first time they mentioned the change they said it was made for the imaginary “modern audience”. I hope that honoring the original Japanese actually does that and isn’t another Paper Mario situation.

It's because of cowardly GungHo. Previously, they removed Grandia games from GOG, when they acquired the rights to games.

I'm torn. I want this remake, but 1. Someone gifted the original to me on Steam a couple years ago (still haven't got to it sadly), and 2. Supposedly this ends on a cliffhanger that makes people wanna immediately jump into the second game. Which we don't know for sure will get a remake yet. Or the third game for that matter.

There's some misinformation with the "Bracer Supply Box", that's only merchandise, it doesn't include the game with it.

As an avid Ys lover, I am really looking forward to trying to get into the trails series.

When it releases on NISA I will just get that bundle as that will a least include the game for Switch.

Huh. It's actually really good to know this was the first ever game in the franchise.

@JJJAGUAR Its also not the collectors edition as this article states as there is one already and its JP exclusive. This is an unrelated thing as Pin Box makes several of these sorts of things for the Trails series in general.

@Tyranexx yeah, I played the original when it released on PSP, and the cliffhanger was really brutal.

Tough I never played the sequel because it took to long to be localized, so I lost interested.

@GoldenSunRM I've half a mind to wait to see if a remake of the second game is greenlit, but Falcom games also seem to have limited print runs. I might end up buying this regardless. Time will tell I suppose.

I'm incredibly looking forward to be playing my very first Sky game starting with this newly crafted installment.

I won't be grabbing it unless there's a proper (standard / simple) physical Switch 2 version though. Seeing that gameplay footage I think I'm going to love that new Nintendo hardware a lot.

If there is no physical Switch 2 version I'll simply be continuing my vast Xenoblade Chronicles adventures, probably.

That replica of Estelle's Orbment looks so sick. Yeah would be grabbing this one on either Switch 2 or Steam, I think my launch Switch 1 needs to be put to rest soon lol

@brakeman90 You make some good points. Both Trails and Ys are in much better positions than they used to be, from both consumer visibility and resource perspectives. It wouldn't surprise me if they're indeed working on a remake for Trails in the Sky SC, but I'd like Falcom to confirm for peace of mind lol. I'd also be happy to try the OG games via Steam of course, but I'll admit improved gameplay systems can go a long way towards enjoyment. If my experiences with other remasters and remakes are any indication.
