I have a bad feeling about this one. I hope I'm wrong but the 3DS game already feels dated in many ways and this looks like a near 1:1 copy with higher resolution and some light Animal Crossing land deformation elements tacked on. The monsters, jobs, combat and furniture needed to be completely rehauled to feel modern but they just don't have it in them as a company I think and all the delays and negative feedback from testers tells you all you need to know. Maybe it will suprise me.
I won't say this game ruined TotK for me but it kinda made me a little more critical than I might have otherwise been to put it lightly. If you haven't treated yourself yet you have no idea what you're in for.
Game Freak will never get sympathy from me. They have children hooked on gambling while they push out the most bottom of the barrel content imaginable. This couldn't have happened to a better company and I hope it keeps happening.
@elpardo1984 Vietnam is literally saying they'll drop their tariffs to 0 if Trump will, but of course when the console doesn't end up cheaper after that you won't say a word.
I'll once again probably only buy the new Zelda, 3D Mario, Animal Crossing and Smash. MAYBE Pokemon if GameFreak somehow pulls a miracle out of their ass and become somewhat competent but i don't see that happening, so that's $350 for 4 games after tax and before DLC. Then I'll get a bunch of indies like Silksong that I don't expect to be near $80. So for the console and two controllers I'm probably around $1400 for the generation since I don't pay for subscriptions otherwise you'd add another $200-$400. I imagine most of you will easily be closer to $3000 or more over the next 8 years not including the inevitable Lite for $400 and Oled for $500. If I had to pick, I would just build an amazing PC for that price and a couple hundred dollars worth of Steam games, but I can't miss Animal Crossing so here we go.
@TruestoryYep brother you're on a site dedicated to a company that reuses Goombas and a million other things a million times like their lives depend on it, please sit down. Sekiro wasn't Bloodborne, neither of which were Elden Ring. Just say you couldn't get past the first boss in any of them 🙏
Quite a bit of work goes into changing an SDR game into HDR unless they're using some sort of AI auto HDR which I highly doubt. I get why they'd want to charge a little money for that reason alone (although it could be argued that it's not on us to fund their modernization efforts considering it was their decision to pass on HDR for the Switch1 in the first place). I'm sick to death of this gen of Zelda so I'll pass but I'm so excited for whatever the next game will look like.
@Zaruboggan I think it works in conjunction with gyro meaning you shouldn't need all of the precision of a gaming mousepad or anything, just movements over your couch cushion next to your leg should be fine, at least that's how they made it seem in the Switch 2 tutorial game earlier on.
It's been a while since my hype levels shot up and down so quickly. Why wouldn't they just give us a single player experience? Who was asking for this? The trailer didn't explain it well enough, I think a lot of people's balloons will soon deflate.
I think Switch 1 will get get the feature, and an external display peripheral, and the dock. I think even before we saw the C button there were rumors and patents suggesting that Nintendo wanted to combine the Switch with the DS and the WiiU. The way the people in this article are talking about it is missing the bigger picture.
There are so many drama queens about this game. "who even cares anymore" uh millions of people who are still passionate about the first game and weren't only hyped about the sequel just because it was trendy to be. "it's in development hell" no it's still very much in a reasonable window for a large open world game with several layers of beautiful art, creature design, dialog, a masterful score and intricate combat mechanics woven together by literally three dudes. Y'all need to chill.
@AdolBannings-Laylee if you aren't interested in the series then don't stop people from trying to improve it. We're not complaining so that they shut down forever and we wouldn't be complaining if we didn't love how much potential the series used to have. "Months left" doesn't mean anything to GameFreak, what you see here is what you're getting.
@Kitchener Hollow Knight is so replayable that if we ever start to get anxious about the sequel we just go back and toy around with new charm combos, mastering counters, speed running the Path of Pain, etc. We don't need no pity.
@ChakraStomps I cheer for playing games on hardware that makes them look somewhat modern. I cheer for modding communities who add exciting features to games. I cheer for the law that says emulation isn't illegal. If you're admitting that you would personally steal if you got into emulation then that's on you but don't put that on others, I don't steal from physical stores and I don't steal from websites.
You should have your keyboard taken away until you're older.
There are a quarter million forks of Yuzu still floating around countless discord/telegram/x/etc communities. They mostly pull the best new updates from each other. The beauty of open source. They cannot/will not defeat emulation and they know it, everything they've done is posturing.
Was a common criticism how it looks completely similar to its 13 year old predecessor? Because the new trailers aren't doing anything to mend that opinion.
@AdolBannings-Laylee I'm sorry, did they show us what the game looks like or no? Have we seen what they released with ScarVi or no? Where's your optimism coming from? We got a trailer, we're judging the trailer, welcome to the internet.
It looks like someone dropped a Pokemon prototype into a Microsoft Flight Simulator '98 map. If that's how they choose to present themselves then it's no different than someone who never bathes or brushes their teeth coming up to my door in a soiled robe and asking me to hear their sales pitch. They might be selling something valuable, but, no thanks.
What I really wanted from ZA was to wash the taste of **** from my mouth after ScarVi, not remind me of it from the vapid look of architecture reminiscent of a freshman college student's game development class project circa 2005 to the soulless art style. Arceus may not have been remotely technically competent but it at least had vibe and style with the watercolor aesthetic and mysterious setting. I'm still excited to see more but if this trailer did anything it was to remind me that if GameFreak does anything right anymore it's by mistake and to not expect a pattern of it.
@Ryu_Niiyama probably too busy building a fort out of their stacks of cash to cry about the 7 people that will try this for 10 minutes before the novelty wears off
This would be a trip on the 3DS, I'll wait and see if anyone takes a stab at porting it there but I love everything about either old console getting love from a passionate community that's keeping them alive.
This should theoretically be exciting but I can't really think of a single MS game I give a crap about, same reason my Series X hasn't been turned on since I beat Elden Ring.
@martynstuff The narrative is and has been that all modern Pokemon games suck besides Arceus. If you love ScarVi power to you but they're objectively trash.
It just looks like such a carbon copy of the original. What exactly is new that's supposed to excite anyone, an "artist" class that I assume will be another cut/copy of cooking/smithing/sewing/etc? And placing furniture outside? I wanted to see WAY more from this, like a bunch of new enemies and ways to do combat and ways to interact with friends. Literally every enemy they've shown so far is ripped straight out of the 3DS game. Good for anyone who never played that I guess.
@drypaphmrbro You'll find that you're opinion is in the vast minority. Scarlet and Violet were more of the formula and were truly awful in ways that can't even be debated. The series needs to evolve and Legends is the best proof we have that the company is even capable of that.
I like the new look because it gives him a kinder default disposition without keeping him from making the old face by furrowing his brow which will make it more impactful than when it's permanent.

Re: Nintendo Shares More Footage Of Zelda: Wind Waker On Switch 2
I'll be waiting for HD. Not going back to the old sail. The game deserves 4K HDR (not to mention wide screen)

Between this, Gollum and RoP I think it's safe to say that LotR is dead. But you can never take my love of the books and movies.

@Tayrailbridge oh yeah God forbid we have more than 5 titles in 30 years from a beloved franchise.

How evident was the Switch 2 screen's HDR to you? Did bright lights have that glowy effect? Did colors pop?

I would love having access to both. The original look is classic but give me HDR and 120fps!!
