Re: Nintendo Direct: Mario Kart World: Every Announcement - How Would You Rate It?

MarioLinkSamus

Correction on the rewind: rewind can only be used in free roam and SOLO races (see disclaimer written at the bottom during the Direct).

The article suggests it can be used in multiplayer and this is false: "HOWEVER (big however), everyone else keeps moving forward when you rewind, so you'll need a pretty decent lead to make using it worthwhile. This can be used in Free Roam mode and also in races."

Re: "We MUST Resist Buying These Game-Key Releases", Says GamesMaster Host

Here's an AI summary of all your comments
Top 3 Reasons People Don't Like Game Key Cards:
1. Not truly physical – No full game on the card, just a download key.
2. Preservation fears – Games may be unplayable if servers go offline.
3. Feels like a downgrade – Seen as a half-step between digital and true physical; some feel it's a cash grab.

Top 3 Reasons People Do Like Game Key Cards:
1. Resell/trade value – Unlike digital, key cards can be lent, sold, or shared.
2. Better than code-in-box – Seen as an improvement over pure digital codes.
3. Storage/manufacturing compromise – Helps publishers release large games affordably in a physical-ish format.

My fear is if everyone does this, it's pushing all the data storage to us = need to spend more money on memory cards. It'd be nice to at least not have to have the cartridge in after the initial download and install.

@Repurposed_Egg_Salad Yes, your TOTK save from the original Switch will work with the Switch 2 Edition. You can continue your game or start fresh using an extra save slot. Details here:

Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?

MarioLinkSamus

The reveal highlights a cautious yet hopeful approach — a stark pivot from the Wii to Wii U transition (clearly N learned its lesson). Nintendo is aiming to refine rather than redefine its winning formula. It's a smart business move but yet feels less interesting because many of us are so used to Nintendo revolutionizing hardware in some way (may still come as we learn more). Day 1 purchase for many of us nonetheless. Can't wait.

Re: PS5 Will Sell More Than 'Switch 2' In The US This Year, Says Analyst

MarioLinkSamus

This fiscal year, which ends on March 31, the PS5 is expected to sell approximately 21 million units globally, with the U.S. typically accounting for about 45% of those sales. Looking ahead, Sony projects slightly lower global sales for the coming fiscal year, estimating 18 million units. Based on historical trends, U.S. sales for the PS5 can reasonably be projected to be around 8 million units.

In its first year, the Nintendo Switch sold 14 million units globally, including 5 million in the U.S. Given its immense popularity, it’s likely that the Switch 2 will surpass these figures—assuming no significant manufacturing limitations or lack of compelling launch titles. If the Switch 2 launches with a major title like a new Mario Kart and avoids production bottlenecks, I, the ever-reliable MarioLinkSamus, predict it will achieve 25–30 million global sales and 9–14 million in the U.S. within its first year.

Thus, the analyst's projections that the PS5 will outsell the Switch 2 this coming fiscal year are wrong. Despite the PS5’s head start, the Switch 2 is poised to outsell it by approximately 3–6 million units, cementing its dominance in the market.

Re: New Patent Seemingly Confirms Nvidia 4K AI Upscaling For Switch 2

MarioLinkSamus

DLSS has been around for years, but the technology is mostly unknown by the masses and a God-send for Nintendo and Switch 2. Nintendo doesn't have to break the bank for next-gen graphics using DLSS and allows them to stick to its identity of gameplay over graphics and power.

Imagine being able to play your entire Switch library in 4k with just a small update. I fear however we may see many, many re-releases at full price with only minor enhancements. For example, I don't want to have to pay another $50 to play Hyrule Warriors in 4k with higher FPS and a couple more characters.

Re: Ubisoft Closes Two Studios And Will Reportedly Lay Off Hundreds Of Employees

MarioLinkSamus

The success of Assassin's Creed pushed Ubisoft toward profit-driven complacency, adopting a cookie-cutter approach to production across all their games. Creativity was lost and greed won out as corporate focus on annual releases superseded gameplay innovation and quality ignoring consumer feedback. The video game industry thrives on innovation, not formulaic repetition. Sorry, not sorry Ubisoft.

Re: Random: "Barren" Pokémon Expo Is The Game Industry's 'Willy Wonka Experience'

@Uncle_Franklin

Pokemon song version (thank you ChatGPT):

(Verse)
I went to Pokeverse, to have a little fun,
But it turned into a nightmare, a battle not yet won.
With barren halls and ravioli jars, it wasn't worth the wait,
Oh, what a mess, it's truly a bizarre fate!

(Chorus)
Pokeverse! Gotta miss 'em all! This event's a shame,
Empty floors, and wasted halls, who is there to blame?
Pokeverse! Oh, the dismay, what a display!
Event planners, learn from this, so we won't be dismayed!

(Verse)
Camera crews were stalking, kids left on their own,
Make-A-Wish forgotten, as chaos was shown.
Willy Wonka's empty fun, this event's a clone,
Next time, get it right, so no one feels alone!

(Chorus)
Pokeverse! Gotta miss 'em all! This event's a shame,
Empty floors, and wasted halls, who is there to blame?
Pokeverse! Oh, the dismay, what a display!
Event planners, learn from this, so we won't be dismayed!
