Before I get started, if there's already a thread like this, go ahead and lock it, but I couldn't find one digging back a few pages (just one asking about what games you beat in 2013 in particular). Also go ahead and lock if you think this is too similar to the What Are YOU Currently Playing thread (although I think this is a little different, I have no problem with the mods deciding otherwise). With that out of the way: Just finished up Kirby & the Amazing Mirror for the first time! Positives: It's pretty much "Metroid-Kirby", which is actually pretty awesome once you get used to it. They really adapted that style of gameplay to Kirby quite well. Now, you don't acquire upgrades to solve puzzles & defeat enemies like in Metroid , rather whenever you come across an obstacle, you think about whether there were any enemies in nearby rooms that could give you an ability suited to it. This works in it's favor quite well too, as it allows it to be more open than more recent Metroid games. Like any good "Metroidvania", there's still plenty of things to look out for though (instead of being key to progression, the items you find here are mostly optional stuff, like spraycans that you can use to change Kirby's color, Sound Test music sheets, and optional health upgrades). This is like one of the most non-linear games I've played in a long time, if ever (remember, this is a freakin' Kirby game!). While the 9 "Areas" are numbered, and the difficulty is higher in the higher numbered areas, you're free to explore & complete them in any order you wish. It's actually a tad more difficult than the average Kirby game, which is nice. It isn't at Mega Man or DKC levels of difficulty of course, but the bump in challenge is noticeable compared to other entries. There's a nice mix of new & returning bosses (the boss of Area 5 is my personal favorite). While the connected world may not meld together as organically as Super Metroid's does, the world on offer here is still colorful as you'd expect, and all the tropes are present (grasslands, haunted mansion, caves, mountain/fire, castle, water, ice/snow, ruins, and sky/space). Negatives: Unfortunately, maps are seen as an optional item here (a big no-no as far as "Metroidvanias" go, IMO), and all the area maps are hidden away as optional items to find & collect, some hidden behind some devious puzzles. To compound this further, while rooms you explore are highlighted even before finding the official map, it's very barebones & not much help. While not a deal breaker, this did noticeably damper the experience for me. It's a bit on the backtracky side. This should come to no surprise given the genre, but I feel it's a little more prevalent here than in other examples of the genre, and the map issues make it slightly more irritating as well. I was diligent and beat four Super Nintendo games.
1. Super Mario World was a lot easier to beat than I remember. Is it just me or is Wonder actually more challenging? Anyway, it still is a classic.
2. The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse is awesome. Full with Disney's classic magic.
3. Pinocchio is another nice Disney game but I did not grow up with it. I know that I wanted to play it though.
4. I did it, I beat Starwing or Star Fox on the highest difficulty with no more retries left and a half life, phew.

Freedom Planet, I have it for Wii U, but was playing it on PC.

I haven't played this one in a long time, but I never beaten it until today. Just wanted to play one of my favorite indie games recently, and I played through Lilac's adventure. What a game! Loved the story, and the game itself was fun. Even teared up at the story, and it got really exciting towards the end.

Love this game, and glad I beat one of the three character's stories today. Yes, I love how this game feels like classic Sonic with its own twist.

The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!

I would say World and Wonder are pretty similar difficulty, although with Wonder having a few more optional challenging levels. Granted, World feels super easy if you've played it a lot already but I assume that will eventually be true with Wonder as well. For me, smb1, smb3, smw, and smbu all feel extremely easy after playing far far too much mario maker.

@FishyS Those games are easy? I’ve gotten like 20 game overs in Mario Bros. 3… and I’m only in the third world.

smb3 is definitely harder than World though.

I've finished Mega Man Battle Network 6: Cybeast Gregar. In other words, I've finished every Battle Network game and saved the cyber world for good. I've also acquired every cross transformation in that version, and did most of the side quests. It is a good game for sure, I liked its story, and the cross and beast out transformations are great to use. Those transformations make MegaMan incredibly powerful in this game, lol... so much so, that they've made the game kind of easy compared to its predecessors. But I still had a good time with it. Since I've finished the whole series, here's how I would rank each entry...

3 > 2 > 6 > 5 > 1 > 4

Can't believe I'm all done with the series... and while going through the Legacy Collection, I've finished 1 thru 4 for the first time. Think I'm ready for a Star Force collection now... once Capcom decides to green light it, of course.

@Jhena Nice job on finishing those games. Yeah, Super Mario World is one of the easier games in the series from my experience, especially after playing through it so many times as a kid, lol. And honestly, I'd love to try out that Magical Quest game you've mentioned, especially since I've been in a Disney mood lately. I'm hoping it will get rereleased somehow on the Switch or something.

I would definitely recommend The Magical Quest. A rerelease would be great, especially if they also include part 2 and 3, because I never played those.

And congratulations on finishing the Mega Man Battle Network series. I have to play it someday, because I think I will like it.

@MarioVillager92 If the first game’s a pain (curse you water guy/Maddie/Count Zap/Yuri, I am not looking forward to the fourth game. And yes I also will gladly take a Star Force collection. Kind of wish they did a Zero/Zx and released a Battle Network/Star Force collection; I’d gladly pay $60 for that.

@Jhena Yeah wasn't the third game Japan-only? Would love to see all three games bundled, I would definitely buy it. In the meantime, I could play Castle of Illusion since I have a Sega Genesis Mini. Thanks for the congrats if you like what you see of the Battle Network games I'd definitely recommend it.

@StewdaMegaManNerd Yeah, BN4 is a bit rough around the edges. A couple parts of the game were a pain to go through, and you'd have to finish the game multiple times to get all the double souls and the best battle chips. Why would they do that? For BN1, I didn't like the ElecMan stage and how you can't escape from battles unless you have at least one escape chip in your folder.
