Next week The Game Awards is taking place, and in the lead-up, event organiser and host Geoff Keighley has been hyping the event on social media.
If you weren't already excited about Metroid Dread being up for a game of the year nomination or Sting making an appearance (no, not that one), perhaps you're more of a fan of the Shang-Chi movie star, Simu Liu.
The Game Awards and Geoff have officially confirmed the Marvel star will be presenting one of the awards:
In comparison to some of the presenters in the past, Liu actually plays video games in his spare time. Over the years he's enjoyed titles like League of Legends, Halo, Animal Crossing and more.
The show will be live-streamed on 9th (or 10th) December depending on your location. You can find out more in our guide. Will you be watching? Leave a comment down below.

Really liked him in Shang-Chi actually. The cast were all brilliant in that movie, just a shame the 100% CGI back half kinda undermined the heart and character development of the front half.
I have a feeling nintendo will drop a suprise dlc character for smash 😛 Just kidding (just letting my imagination run wild lol)
Funny how I just finished watching the movie an hour ago I started seeing this. XD
Great movie
Oh look it's....him.
Yaay?
@nessisonett movie was lame but I agree he is a pretty decent not great actor.
Absolutely loved Shang Chi, and I admit to having a bit of a crush on the guy after seeing Kim's Convenience. Don't really watch award shows though as they are hella lame and mean nothing to one's personal tastes.
Okay, but why?
I'm getting Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez chills down my spine.
I also really liked Shang Chi. But then again I love all Marvel movies
Simu Liu looks like a young Shang Tsung to me
Oh yay. A Hollywood star which nobody asked for.
Shang chi was amazing, And I thought he was a great actor.
He's alright. Now, if his 'dad' Mr Kim had played Shang Chi....
i first saw him in selling sunset not marvel
The big game reveal (that everyone thinks is Zelda for some reason) is gonna be a Marvel game. Calling it now.
@nessisonett Yeah the movie was better than I expected. Only went to see it for Tony Leung and the 88rising soundtrack but ended up enjoying it more generally.
At least not someone from the snoozefest that was Eternals, that was the first movie I walked out on 😂
Would prefer more luminaries from WITHIN the gaming space than these celebrities. I don't think they ever add anything. Financially we're the largest entertainment industry. Why does Geoff feel we need to keep validating ourselves with celebrities from other fields?
Do the Oscars or Grammy's get Shigeru Miyamoto, Hideo Kojima or Todd Howard to present Best Director or Album awards? No. Why do we need Christoper Nolan or Simu Liu? What message does that send out?
Would also prefer more of a celebration of video game music, musicians and composers over getting in band's he likes.
I appreciate the one man army that Geoff is and everything he has done for gaming, yet I think we need to back our industry more.
That guy was good, quite likable, on Saturday Night Live the other week.
I think getting celebs is the new norm now that the gaming industry is eclipsing movies.
Simu Liu is such a great actor, he seems so positive in everything he does. I can’t wait to see what he does next!
For all the righteous indignation I see on this (and other gaming sites) over almost any infraction, real or perceived, you guys just eat this propaganda right up.
Love how they found this guy in StockPhotos lol, he's really cool though
@PBandSmelly http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2021/09/shang-chi-star-simu-liu-said-pedophilia-no-different-gay/
He kinda sucks.
I like this guy, but why have guests who have nothing to do with video games at a video games award show? They're learning nothing from the past few years
A good movie with some real martial arts, thanks to the late Bradley Allan who was given cart blarnche in the action choreography. I did a big review on my site. But back to gaming, Being he is actually a gamer he's probably best suited to present. He may well be passionette about the games and being a actor he can give it large. I find most times actual games developers and or publishers do presentations that thay come across as boring, Game makers sit at desks on computers for most part, there not face to face people .
Its a bit like when you go into a store and the sales person is knowledgeable about the products your buying, there often just like actors, as each person has to approach each person they serve differently. Of course you sometimes get a sales person that has no clue , has no knowledge or just doesn't offer infomation. Like some people shouldn't be in retail, some people should just not be presenters, and it applies to a lot of games devs, snoooozzzzze fest....
Will I be watching the game awards?
Probably as I'm a night hawk, yes Im in the UK so its a late one for me.
@NintendoByNature - Geoffrey, golden rings AND bottom brick??? It’s all coming true.
@bimmy-lee no deal. If Brie's not the one handing out awards, then what's the point? Geoffrey might as well let TGA fall into development hell if this is his idea of winning over the consumer. Now, if they end up changing the platform in the last 5 minutes of the show with each side elevated ever so slightly, it will add MAJOR twist in the awkward timing of this showcase. As the great frank dux once said to Ray Jackson, "Aren't you, a little old, for video games?" Hopefully Geoffrey let's that sink in.
No sign of working on games. Shove him out the door and find someone else please.
@NintendoByNature - (plutonic friendship kiss followed by prolonged, misty eye contact)
@bimmy-lee that eye contact between keleigh and Vin diesel was 4/10. It would normally be a 5/10, You have to subtract a point for keleigh actually owning the entire event. Don't worry pal, I voted with my wallet, I urge you to do the same.
