Way back in August, we asked you wonderful readers what your favourite Super Mario platform game was. You voted, and from those votes we came up with a Top 10 list, which we have immortalised in this video.
If you ever played a Super Mario game, then you must be curious about what game is number one, right? Could it be Yoshi's Story, Super Mario Land or the original Mario Bros.?
Well, you'll just have to find out, by watching the video below!

Woo SMW won! I voted for that because of how complete a game it is.
Yay!!! Super Mario World is my absolute favorite Mario game of all time. They may never strike such gold again i fear but, i digress.
I'm a bit disappointed to see Yoshi's Island at #8, but everything else is in a good place. Also, can someone direct me to that kicking outro song?
SMW has the secret world within a secret world, that made the 100% all the more sweet, do that again.
I would love to watch this but youtube is blocked here. It looks like SMW won though, which I'm very happy with. Definitely my favorite Mario.
If the game at Number 1 wasn't where it was, I would have refused to do the video.
How is SMB3 Below SUNSHINE?!?!? No offense but YOU PEOPLE HATED SUNSHINE!!!
Mario 3 & 4 are amazing. I actually was not too crazy about Galaxy Worlds. Luckily no one thinks Mario U or Luigi U are in the list.
@Whopper744 Watch it on your new expensive phone lol!
I don't even remember what game i voted for, probably Super Mario Bros 3.
Super Mario Sunshine will remain to be my favourite though!
@FritzFrapp Yup, along with SMB3, the biggest surprise when I was going through the poll results!
The list is about what I expected. But it's far from what MY list would be. I dislike every single 3D Mario game. Plus, no Mario 2 (my favorite) anywhere in the top 10? Bogus. Oh well. SMW is a solid choice for #1, so I'm happy to see that, at least.
The sountrack in the end of Nintendolife videos... Does longer versions of the soundtrack exist?
I demand a recount for second and third place.
@Spooney_Tech The phone was cheap. It's the monthly payments that stink. Not to mention I've only got 2 GB of data and it goes pretty fast some months, especially if there is a Nintendo Direct happening while I'm at work that month. haha.
SMG2 should be above SMG. It dropped the story element but Yoshi, and especially Blimp Yoshi, was sublime. SMG2 is my favorite.
Sunshine over 3? I really like Sunshine, but that's just weird.
I personally prefer SMG2 over the first. I just think it has better level design and less filler. The first is still sublime, though.
Yes, it would make so much sense to be "Yoshi's Story", NintendoLife...
The list is proof that Nintendo Life age group is probably 20 years old or lower.
This list is perfect, but... Super Mario 64 has "stood the test of time INCREDIBLY WELL"? Sorry, but I disagree.
@OneBagTravel Don't be rude.
@Prime why is stating that nintendo life has a young audience being rude? My statement was not meant to offend. But I guess people can get offended by anything these days.
1. Super Mario 64
2. Super Mario Bros. 3
3. Super Mario Bros. 2
4. Super Mario Galaxy
5. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
And there's the correct list.
@MrMario02 - And Luigi's Mansion was horrible and how dare they release a Nintendo console without a Mario game at release and Zelda Wind Waker was an abomination, and no DVD play back, and the mistake of the mini CD, and and and......the GC was HATED
I say SM3DW. It brought back many memories as my family and friends played together. And made many more similar memories that we can cherish again since we could play together or throw each other off a cliff lol
I don't agree with the whole lineup but I voted for number 1.
Super Mario World is so nostalgic for me. It's the first game I got on my Super Nintendo back in 1994. I pretty much grew up with that game and the DKC trilogy.
I'm just glad the...only 4 Good Mario games made the list. That's the most I could possibly hope for from the Mario fanbase....
Both Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island better be near the top or the list is bu..u..ull.
Personally, I'd put them at the top, along with the Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros 3.
The 3D Mario platform games like Super Mario 64 and Galaxy etc are all great too, Mario 64 is especially a seminal watershed moment in the entire history of gaming (never mind just the Mario platforming series), but not a single one of them has matched the all round perfection [for all intents and purposes] that the best 2D Mario games have reached.
Edit: Happy to see Super Mario World is at the top, no complaints with that from me at all, and I expect Yoshi's Island would have been up there too if more people had actually played it and especially back in the day.
I was very impressed by the Galaxy games, better than SM3DW
As always, blinded by retro glasses.
I mean, I LOVE classic Mario, but for instance saying the original Mario Bros. game is a "better" game than, say New Super Mario Bros.1 + 2 is just stupid. It might have been a more important game in it's time than NSMB2 was when it came out, but now it's time has passed.
Same goes, partly, for Super Mario World. The only one of the "classics" that can still be considered a great game compared to modern games is Mario 64. That's my opinion anyways.
NSMB1 Will always be my favorite
@Extremist
There is an element you're missing though and it is that while things have changed, Mario's jump physics for example, and new stuff has been added, just lots of various stuff, the original Super Mario Bros is basically flawless in and of itself and you can pick it up and get absorbed into today just as easily as the day it was released.
Seriously; when I start playing that game I find it almost impossible to put down and I'm one of those people who's always preferred the controls and jump physics in the likes of Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World far more than the original.
Some people might prefer the jump physics of the newer Mario games, I certainly do, or whatever other stuff but that doesn't detract from a game that is basically flawless for what it is. I don't think you could say the same of New Super Mario Bros 2; although I've not played it so I might be wrong but going on the other New Super Mario games, which I have played, I think it might not be up there with the best classic 2D Mario games.
What I would say however is that Super Mario World is definitely a superior game to Super Mario Bros and any of the "New" Super Mario games but SMW is basically perfect in its own right and also improved over the original in every single way too, so that makes perfect sense to me.
@OneBagTravel You realize people under 30 don't like to be called young. Everyone can have a different list than you, you don't have to go ahead and say
"The list is proof that Nintendo Life age group is probably 20 years old or lower." You think that would not offend people? I agree with your critisism about today's world 100%, but really?
@Kirk: Well, that's where we'll have to agree to disagree... I mean, not many people today will pick up Super Mario Bros for the first time and agree it's "basically flawless". Myself, I can only play it for max 30 mins before it's enough for a couple of weeks/months...
But again, it's just my opinion, and I respect others' may differ!
Super Mario Bros. 3 is #7? I don't think I want to live on this planet anymore...
@Extremist
Well, given what you have said; tell me where you believe it's flawed?
I mean even I prefer the new controls of games like Super Mario World and obviously the graphics in games like Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island are far more beautiful examples of sprite art, etc, but I can still objectively look at Super Mario Bros and basically see it's near flawless for what it is.
Basically; I fully believe that if Super Mario Bros were released today on some digital service for the very first time by some unknown indie developer; I expect, as relatively simple as it is, that is would garner near universal critical acclaim and would become a modern indie classic.
My personal list would see Mario U on there just because of the fun I've had playing it with friends
@Kirk: Not saying it's flawed in any particular way. I'm just saying the retro factor counts a LOT for people who grew up with the classics. If all Mario-games were released for the first time tomorrow as brand new games - looking, playing and sounding exactly as they were it their time - no way would SMB get as high as 10th place.
But again, my opinion and I think I'll leave it at that!
@Extremist
Yeah, that's probably true.
Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island had blimmin better though.
@Kirk: Yeah, I'll agree with you on that!
galaxy not on 1??? BLASPHEMY !!!
I have an impossible time ranking the Mario games. SMB3, SMW, SMG2, SM64, and Sunshine are all top-notch IMO. I could easily see myself picking any of those for #1.
SMB3 only 7th, Galaxy 1 before 2, SM64 only 3rd, World at #1???
I don't agree with this list but it is obvious my opinion compared to the whole group.
Super Mario 3D World at 5th? That was my favourite one!
@Anojan12345 Exactly, the list is out of wack IMO. Sunshine shouldn't even be in the top 10.
1. Super Mario World
2. Super Mario 3
3. Super Mario Galaxy
4. Super Mario 64
5. Yoshi's Island
then the rest
@MrMario02 Yes. Sunshine is amazing.
Some people here don't understand the flaws of a basic voting system. Its gonna be generally right but there can be some hiccups. If, for example, the only people who liked SMB 3 also liked Super Mario World better, SMB 3 wouldn't even show up on this list.
Edit: Sunshine is amazing though. One of the most unique platformers I've ever played.
Could someone please list the winners in the video, my internet is rubbish!
I would do anything for Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario 64 sequel...
Super Mario Sunshine is still my favorite. I could play that game 100 times back-to-back and not get bored.
@OneBagTravel You might very well be the only one who thinks Sunshine unworthy of top ten. I would've put it higher, but what evvs.
@JellySplat There are a ton of people who wouldn't put Sunshine in the top 10.
@Krambo42
I'm sure, but it doesn't seem like many on this site. it got there though, so that's all that really matters.
@ULTRA-64
10.Super Mario Bros. (NES)
9. Super Mario 3D Land (3DS)
8. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (SNES)
7. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
6. Super Mario Sunshine (GC)
5. Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)
4. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii)
3. Super Mario 64 (N64)
2. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
1. Super Mario World (SNES)
Super Mario 3D World with 4 players. 'Nuff said.
Only 2 Mario's really blew me away. First, Super Mario 64 at release. Then, Super Mario Galaxy. 2D Mario is def Super Mario World. Some folks prefer 2D Mario/Metroid over 3D. So that fact is huge when voting.
I would love to see an HD version of Super Mario Sunshine on WiiU.
I will always prefer the 2D Mario games over the 3D ones and for Super Mario World to be number one here is all the proof I need.
I think the system of voting on your single favorite Mario game shows it's flaws in the outcome of the vote. The better more accurate way to do this would have been to vote for you favorite 5 and give points based off of rank. 1st= 16pts, 2nd=8pts , 3rd=4pts , 4th=2pts , 5th=1pts. If it were done this way, I think Mario 3 would have been higher on the list.
....but that's being waaaaaay too nerdy.
I forgot what I chose, but I was hoping 3D World would've been in the top 3. Though I'm fine with Super Mario Galaxy taking 2nd place.
@SlayerG cheers dude, bonus points your way
Super Mario Bros being #10 on the list sounds about right. The game was incredibly influential and is still a fun game, but most of the sequels vastly improve on its basic formula.
I am a little sad about SMB3 ranking so low, though. I've always preferred it to SMW and consider it to be the greatest game on the NES.
@MrMario02
Those blue coins managed to take Super Mario 64's red coins and make them worse, provided this was a possible feat.
World won?! That sucks... for me.
@AlexSora89 Wait, what's the problem with the red coins in Mario 64?
@RaphaBoss
Some of those challenges were kinda annoying, that's all. But that's nothing compared to the blue coins in Sunshine - Nintendo should have just slapped "Buy a guide" on the game's cover. Seriously, those coins were so hard to find, that the game suggested the player to save. Heck, I had more fun with Luigi's Purple Coins in Galaxy, and that one took me Palutena-knows-how-many tries to complete. Among 64, Sunshine and Galaxy, the GameCube Mario game is the one I never felt the need to fully complete - it's an okay game on its own right, but if you compare it to other Mario, it just can't compete.
@AlexSora89 The red coins in 64 were a piece of cake ( at least for me) to collect, you could even pause to zoom out in some maps to look for them. The blue coins in Sunshine, while they were harder to find, they were not necessery to complete the game, same for he red coins.
I prefer the 3D ones to the 2D ones, but I've seen casual players play 3D Mario games and they just can't get to grips with it. That's probably why NSMBW vastly outsold SMG on Wii. For me, Mario 64 is still the best.
@RaphaBoss
Not to complete the game, but they're needed in order to achieve 100% completion - a task that I've been more than glad to pull off in the first Galaxy (I have yet to complete the second).
yoshi's island had my vote, best game i've ever played
I really like NSMBU better than Sunshine... But it is ok. There is a lot of guilt towards Mario Sunshine, because a lot of people hated it before they played it. But anyways, it isn't that great a game.
yoshis Island is my favourite, think it was the crayon art style, the levels looked beautiful and colours were so vibrant on the snes, not to mention the game had bags of character and some fantastic humour which just clicked with me and I loved every second of it.
@Al_Godoy
Exactly. Take it from a Mario fan - the best way to describe Sunshine is "better than you fear, yet worse than you hope".
I think this list is more of an indication of the website's age demographics skewing younger than it is about the quality of Mario games.
Happy with the list, I love the NSMB games however
Pretty good list really, no complaints from me. I personally prefer my Mario in 3d but it's a classic that won. I definitely prefer the new 2d ones to the old, those early controls
How I'd love to replay sunshine to see if it's nostalgia goggles or not, really enjoyed that one!
@DrunkLuigi what are you talking about? most of the games are old etc. These age remarks make no sense.
@Samurai_Goroh
My thoughts exactly..
I'm all for SMW being number 1, but SMB 3 being so low and under Sunshine is just...
I think I need to lie down.
I mostly agree with this list and I am glad to know that a lot of other people share my enthusiasm for Super Mario world it's a fantastic Mario game. Very glad to see the galaxy games ranked so highly because imo they are some of if not the finest 3d platformers ever made.
Now while Nintendo is outsourcing games to be remade hopefully they will give us galaxy 1+2 hd good vid Nintendo life
@LeeGarbutt Spoken as it should be.
To the dorks that chose "Yoshi's Island"...seriously? that's not a mario game. that's a yoshi game dressed as a faux mario title.
Good game, yes. But not a mario game.
and just because the untouchable Miyamoron says it, doesn't means it's true.
awesome video, but #1 should have been Super Mario Bros 3 or Super Mario 64, not Super Mario World, though it is a great game, definitely isn't the overall best Mario game. Seriously, Super Mario Bros 3 coming in at #7?!?!? You gotta be joking...
@minotaurgamer
As much of a funny pun as it is, I - speaking not for most Nintendo fans around here, but rather most gamers in general - feel the need to ask you not to call Miyamoto like that ever again, thanking you in advance in case you choose to follow my word of advice.
@minotaurgamer
Apart from Mario being a baby stuck on Yoshi's back for most of the game, as opposed to an adult that runs around separate from Yoshi for most of the game as in Super Mario World, and the fact you can throw eggs using an aiming system; it's a Mario platformer.
It's basically just Super Mario World where you can't get off Yoshi's back and Yoshi spits out eggs rather than fireballs or shells.
It's called Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island for a reason and sure it's not a straight up Mario platformer but it shares more in common with your average Mario platformer than the stuff it does different.
Hmm i gave super mario galaxy 1 my vote, just because its so damn good lol. Idk its just fantastic and SMG 2 is preatty damn good aswell, its just SMG 1 was the first game to introduce it.
@Extremist I recently played SMW again. It's still amazing, no nostalgia goggles needed.
SMW2 for me, followed by SMW then galaxy 2
Well, that took some time! Anyway, nice list. Good that my favorite (Mario Sunshine) is also on it, and not even that low.
Super Mario world is the best Mario. I loved Galaxy 1 & 2. I didn't care for the Wii NSMB but it didn't even make the list. I want to play Sunshine again cuz that's the only Mario I never beat. I think it might been the controls and I was playing Baiten Kratos 2 or something that like that when I had it.
My top 5 is
Mario World
Mario Galaxy 1
Mario Bros 3
Mario 64
Mario Galaxy 2 (only this low as I've not completed it yet )
They are all really good. I think my least favorite ones would be the "New Super Mario Bros." line of games. Best ones IMO change in my head a lot but I'm feelin' SMG 1+2, SMW and Sunshine right now. I'm in the Sunshine Group
@BarryDunne I dislike the last of us but agree with super mario galaxy
You can definitely tell it was fan vote, by the fact that the original Super Mario Bros. is last on the list...
The original is easily in my top 3.
I love em all!
SMW FTW! I agree.
Of all the topics to vote for, this one was hardest! Sunshine over 3 is crazy. But galaxy over 64 and galaxy 2 is spot on (I thought 1 had better level design). 3D Land and 3D World being ranked on the list was a pleasant surprise, even though I haven't played them. I guess I will now!
All the unjust NSMB hate...
Yoshi's Island is too low.
Very good list guys.
This list would be almost identical to my own if Sunshine was at the bottom or not on here at all. It is a great game but I feel that New Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros. 2 deserve a spot on this list a bit more. I think my opinion can change depending on which Mario games I have played recently.
@Nintendo_Ninja
They are great games, especially Super Mario Bros (DS). I still need to pick up New Super Mario Bros 2 though, so I can't speak for it.
I agree 100% Super Mario World is the best Mario game ever. I remember when I first played it at a store before launch I was completly blown away. Then I bought the SNES with the included SMW at launch. It was the first video game console I purchased with a summer job money. And it was one of the best experiences I've had as a gamer.
SMW definitely deserves the number one spot, I would have to put 64 in front of galaxy. But I'm happy to see none of the New super Mario bros are on the list, while enjoyable they are just not up to the quality of the other games for me.
Upsetting that Super Mario was only at 10 but I understand why. Each Mario has improved and been better than the last for the most part but SMB still remains my favorite game to this day. It's the only game I can ever say was perfect when it was released. The colors, the graphics, the music, the gameplay. It was a work of art the likes of which were never seen before. Oh man, I can still remember the excitement.
The beauty about video games, and Nintendo especially is that it has a wide range of ages enjoying the hobby. If someone was born 5-10 years after me and started with SMW or SM64 they probably aren't going to have the same experience I had with the original. No fault of theirs. I'm just glad so many people, regardless of age, enjoy Mario!
I expected NL to get this wrong and my expectations were exceeded.
My list would be different, but when it comes to Mario games, I suppose you really can't go wrong. The fact that the top three were all so close to each other was also really impressive. It just goes to show how fantastic these games are!
Also, for those curious, Super Mario Galaxy is my favorite. I played a little bit of the second, but I really need to pick it up sometime soon...
Being a SEGA gamer during most of the 90's I never had a NES or SNES but I did borrow my friends NES sometimes so I'd played SMB 3 not long after it came out.So for the enjoyment I got out of them at the time and the impact they had on me (all at launch or there abouts) my top 5 would be
1.Super Mario 64
2.Super Mario Galaxy 1
3.Yoshi's Island (1st played on GBA)
4.Super Mario Bros 3
5.Super Mario World (1st played on VC)
This would be my list on what I actually consider to be Mario's greatest games though and in short why.
1.Super Mario World - The flawless controls,the timeless artstyle,the greatest soundtrack ever,the considerable challenge and the tons of secrets.This game is a perfection in platformers that will likely never be topped.
2.Yoshi's Island - The first time I played this was on the GBA soon after it came out.I was working as a holiday rep in France at the time and had such a great time playing this in my tent at night.Then a couple of year ago I played the original SNES version on a rom on my WII (stone me) and came to the conclusion that this game really is a masterpiece.Truly 1 of the finest games ever made.Reasons why,see SMW
3.Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Although I personally had more fun with the original,the sequel is,if it was to played now the better game over all.There's really not much between them but Galaxy 2 is more streamlined,full of ideas,,more challenging,the inclusion of Yoshi and slightly better graphics.
4.Super Mario Galaxy - See above.This was the game that made me fall in love with Nintendo's 1st party games again.I had and loved the Gamecube but other than Wind Waker wasn't a massive lover of their own input,not including 2nd party games like Eternal Darkness.It was the game I bought my Wii for and the delay killed me but what an experience it was when playing it for the first time.Everyone who played it at launch can relate to the feeling they got coming to terms with the physics and just how beautiful a game it was.Near perfection!
5.Super Mario Bros 3 (All Stars version) I played the original NES version (borrowed) not long after it came out and what an impact it had on me.There was just something magical about this game at the time.Unfortunately unlike SMW it's starting to look a bit rough around the edges,literally.The Allstars version makes up for that though.It's challenging,the music is fantastic,the level design is perfect and it's got soul.Something none of the NSMB releases seem to have.I can't quite put my finger on it with them but they are just not that much fun to play for me.
Excuse the long comment but this fella means a lot to me
I voted SMB3. Every other Mario game is merely a faint shadow of that game.
@Zodiak13 Taking nostalgia away,which do you prefer now,the original or the Allstars version?
Setting aside my bias on Yoshi's Island being my favorite game of all time.
...Super Mario Bros 3 below Sunshine? Y'all are bananas.
World is easily my Favorite Mario game of all time man! Wish I can play that game somehow but my GBA powersaves dead.
I could play the original through VC but the remake is even better. I hope Nintendo puts this on GBA vc.
I was surprised Mario 3 scored so low. Every "Best Mario" debate I've ever seen between classic gamers was a toss up between 3 and World, with the original in 3rd.
I am in the World camp myself and voted World, but all the games featured were awesome. SMB2 never made the cut but whatever. I'm also glad to see 3D Mario love here.
None of the NSMB games made the list but they're kinda "meh," although the M+L "U" versions were better than the others before it.
SMW won not a bad choice! i like Mario 64 the most tho. Btw is there some reson super Mario land 1 was out of the poll votes? It's one of the few mario games I haven't played yet. I got SML2 as gift with my first Game boy but i never played SML1.
Mario 64 for me but SMW would be in close second!
@SlayerG
Great, thanks
Awesome! Not many votes separated 3rd, 2nd & 1st which just goes to show how many magnificent games there are in the Super Mario franchise. I voted for Super Mario Galaxy, as it's my personal favourite, so awesome to see it essentially tie 1st with SMW & SM64. All awesome games! Makes me want to go & play them all now hahaha.
@nindocrash SML1 is great but very short & easy (well it was really tough when I was playing it as a kid but now I find it easy). I picked it up & beat it in 30 mins hahaha. It has less worlds than other Super Mario games too. In a top 10 list it just can't compete against the other amazing games.
Super Mario world is my favourite Mario game by far it was one of those games that never had me looking to play the older versions of the games.
When I compared later games like Mario 64 and New Super Mario Bros.
They had something missing with Mario 64 it's my favourite 3D platformer to date but it just wasn't the same as playing through levels like in the 2D Mario's so for everything it gained it lost something too which was later rectified with the Super Mario 3D land and World respectively.
Then there is the New Super Mario Bros series now it was the first time around playing an update to the classic style of Mario Bros they still had me itching to play one of the older titles again which I thought would be rectified with later releases.
Subsequent releases like NSBW, NSB2, NSBW-U all felt the exact same not because they didn't add anything new but because they all use the exact same art style and same damn music.
I still feel the older 2D Mario games are better 1,2,3 Mario World.
However the 3D Marios have improved a lot when Galaxy came out but I still think Mario 64 trumps them because the hook of anti gravity wasn't an improvement really I would have preferred a 3D Mario that's like Mario 64 but with the refinements of the Galaxy series without the water jet thing.
Ah well back onto the topic Super Mario World it's the best so I'm glad it won out in the polls.
@StarDust4Ever
Yeah I see what you mean about polls on the internet @ SMB3 and SMW
But the poll is different here those people probably played Nintendo games years ago but aren't necessarily Nintendo fans any more.
But this is a site for people that are still playing Nintendo games I think this poll more accurately represents which Mario is best but with that said everything in a poll is just a personal opinion anyway so accuracy is subjective
@OneBagTravel - I think you have your sums muddled up. SMW was released in 1990. Anyone at 20 or lower wouldn't have been born yet. I would say the average age is nearer 30.
What does it matter? SMW is gaming perfection and can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter when you were born.
My favorites:
1. Super Mario 64
2. Super Mario Sunshine (despite the blue coins)
...
3. Super Mario Bros. 3.
4. Super Mario Bros.
...
...
...
...the rest.
I'm really not a fan of Mario platformers, apart from the ones mentioned.
Where are the NSMB games? At least NSMBU and NSMB should be on the list. And what's with the Sunshine hate? I think it's my perfect GameCube game.
I'm glad Sunshine is on the list, as well as most of the 3D Marios. Frankly, I was shocked that 3D Land made the list - give the hate (love the game, mind), I thought it would be a forgotten thing.... BUT IT'S THERE!
Ooook, it looks like I need to give SMW a better try. I just never dug that game. But apparently I should spend more time with it. So, I will! My opinion differs on everything here but I've always been the odd man (or woman I should say) out. My top games in no order are: Yoshi's Island, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario 3D land, and, don't hate me, but I liked New Super Mario Bros U. :/ Honorable mention to SMB3 and the 64 game. When it comes down to it, Mario is my favorite series. I'm always debating this between LoZ or Final Fantasy, but I think Mario will always be number one. And now I want to go play some Mario!
@minotaurgamer
"Miyamoron"
You are just so classy, and always have intelligent points...
Super Mario Land 2 deserved to be on there since it was the only handheld Mario game that actually felt like Mario until New Super Mario Bros. on DS. Plus it introduced Wario to the world.
Although Mario 64 is outdated, there is a sense of magic every time I play that game, which is why that will always be my favorite game of all time.
@WiiLovePeace i see, Thanks. that makes enough sence to me I guess.
@dkis007 Said: Although Mario 64 is outdated, there is a sense of magic every time I play that game, which is why that will always be my favorite game of all time.
I most defenitly agree with you on that.
SMG 2 is by favourite. But what a game SMWis
@minotaurgamer thank you. Came here to say this. A "Mario" game, by definition, is one in which the player controls Mario. A "Mario escort mission featuring Yoshi" is a Yoshi game, not a Mario game. It shouldn't have even been considered.
@Prime Graphically, no it hasn't In game design it's an absolute classic. Outdated sure but the game is still very much fun to play today and IMO definitely the best 3D Mario game.
@evoxpisces I would not call it the best 3D Mario game, it IS very fun to play today, it IS a timeless classic that EVERYONE NEEDS to experience, and I was only talking about how it has not aged well GRAPHICALLY. So, yes.
@OorWullie Late response, but NES. Mainly because I never played the all-stars edition.
I agree on every Mario game on this list. Good job guys!
